Attorney Perez said he will appeal the judge’s decision, while Fujimori’s lawyer, Giulliana Loza, was satisfied with the decision.
The Peruvian judiciary rejected the request of prosecutor José Domingo Pérez to declare preventive detention against the leader of the Fuerza Popular (FP) party, Keiko Fujimori, for the so-called Cocteles case of alleged money laundering.

Judge Victor Zúñiga, of the Fourth Preparatory Investigation Court, declared that Fujimori had no obligation to request judicial authorization to travel to the United States at the end of May this year.
In this sense, the request of the prosecutor José Domingo Pérez to revoke the measure of appearance with restrictions and to order preventive detention was declared unfounded.
Fujimori explained that the impediment to leave the country dictated in 2023 revoked in January of this year in second instance.
Attorney Perez said he will appeal the judge’s decision, while Fujimori’s lawyer, Giulliana Loza, was satisfied with the decision.
The defendant has served two pre-trial detentions between 2018 and 2020. The trial of the case will begin on Monday, July 1. The Lava Jato Task Force calls for a sentence of more than 10 years’ imprisonment for the alleged commission of the crimes of criminal organization, money laundering, among others.
